Get Yourself a Suit: Death to Fake Pockets

Picture this: you’ve spotted that super chic suit in store. You’ve tried it on, it fits you well, and the price - well, it’s not cheap, but hey, when it comes to good tailoring, it’s a dollar amount that you’re willing to take on the chin.
Until you find to your dismay that not only is it 100% polyester, it’s pockets are fake. Completely, totally, not real. Fake pockets. Why. There’s not even a breast pocket on the inside you can stuff a lipstick in. Fuck.

The real tragedy is that women look incredible in suits, and we should all own one. But where do you find a good suit? Let’s take a step back. What even defines a good women’s suit?

There’s no difference in what defines a good man’s suit, but overall you’re looking for fit, fabric, and make. It should be made with breathable fabric, should be stitched not glued, and should have authentic detailing (real pockets, open vents.)

So where do you start in even finding them?

Summissura: my first stop for a custom suit will always be Summissura, where you can pick suit designs straight from their online store, or you can design a suit from scratch, down to the finest detail. Be methodical in getting your measurements right and you’ll end up with a suit that fits you like a glove.

GA Zink & Sons: if you want to go the whole hog and get something bespoke, these guys are the place to go. They do made to measure and bespoke, so you can create something truly you. If you just got the promotion of your dreams, go get yourself a custom tuxedo. Then wear it for the rest of your life.

Zara: no, I’m not kidding. Honourable mentions to Zara. Most of their core suits are a cheaper option if you want to just dip your toe, but they do release new suits in their seasonal collections which can be fabulous for the price.
