The Tucked Blazer: What Do You Think You’re Doing?

Having worked in men’s suiting, I’ve become a bit of a stickler for the traditional nuances of how to properly wear a suit. Following these ‘rules’ of menswear, and then carrying them across to womenswear, has been a translation I’ve tried to keep as accurate as possible.

However this doesn’t mean I don’t want people to play jump-rope with these rules, to be curious about the boundaries and keep style exciting: I love that it’s not only acceptable, but in fact encouraged, to try a pair of sneakers with your suit, or chucking on a cap for the ultimate sporty vibe.

But.

Tucking your blazer into your trousers? I just don’t know.

The latest in a plethora of questionable street style trends has seen style icons everywhere tucking in their suit jacket, from the likes of Kendall Jenner, to Sophia Roe, the trend is now filtering out to the masses.

Sure, it’s a great way to keep your waist looking cinched, and I have to say, from what I’ve seen it can look very chic - but what happens when there is too much bulk, and you end up looking like you’re wearing a nappy?

I’m not sure on this one. The jury is still out.
