5 Things to Buy When You Remember Mullets are in Fashion Again

Mullet Things to Buy.jpg

Yes, it’s a thing. The mullet.

To mine and many others’ horror, this hairstyle that has long been the peak of style ridicule is crawling its way out of its pariah status and into the trendy edges of mainstream fashion. What’s even more horrifying is that its totally possible that I will date someone in the next year or two that has a mullet. Even worse: eventually, I’m going to see someone with a mullet and think: “Yes, you’re pulling that off.”

Christ. So, to lift yourself out of your mullet-induced woes, I’ve put together a list of five of the most joy-inducing new arrivals this week. Try not to feel optimistic about the world (and its style curve-balls) while wearing these pieces. Go on – I dare you.

1.       OLYMPIA LE TAN - Wendy Yu Embroidered Canvas Clutch

We love the ever-artistic designs that Olympia le Tan delights us this, and what joy she’s put into this embroidered clutch. The silk embroidered clutch and then lined with Liberty fabric is a collaboration with Chinese artist Wendy Yu. This truly is an “Oh my god I LOVE that” kind of accessory.

2.       CHRISTY DAWN The Bijou Dress

If we left Christy Dawn’s dresses as creatures from a 70’s dreamscape, we’d only be describing one aspect of her designs. It’s the process behind their creation that makes them even more wonderful. Christy Dawn uses only deadstock – a much more environmentally-friendly and feel-good option than regular fabric sourcing.

3.       CULT GAIA Alia Leather Mule

How could you not feel amazing when wearing the modern reincarnation of Cinderella’s glass slipper? If there’s one thing I know, it’s that Cinderella managed to stay kind and hopeful throughout dark times. We can do the same and bear the brunt of this mullety trend in style.

4.       SIR THE LABEL Aurelie Open Back Gown

I’ve got two words for you: ethereal beauty. Quite literally swan into rooms and catch the admiring looks everyone around you. Once their attention is kept, convince them that mullets are a bad idea.

5. POLLY WALES Confetti Ring

I’ll be real, a Polly Wales cast ring is a little adventurous (and really, well and truly out of my budget, at least) but a girl can dream. These rings are bursting with accidental and uncontrollable design joy – they’re even named after confetti.
